I've never tried to go to/from Akai or other hardware sampler formats though.Įven though the software can look a little confusing and crude in some spots, the core functionality has saved me massive amounts of time, and I've successfully done huge batch conversions that would have taken months if done by hand. do get pretty jacked up and need repairing, but nothing gets totally wrecked. Sometimes complex elements like round-robin sample layers, mod-wheel crossfades, etc. What's important to me is the samples>zones>mapping info, which it almost always gets right.
Most of that stuff I don't care about and I'm fine to do the clean-up manually after the conversions are done.
but the user interface can be confusing, and some things need to be repaired once they're in the destination format - mostly stuff like weird LFO>pitch things and other minor stuff. I've used Translator quite a bit over the years, but just to move things back and forth between EXS-24 and Kontakt mostly.
